Christmas Themed Pins and Brooches

With just only a month before Christmas, I bet you're already stocking up on possible gifts for your loved ones and buying things for you to wear on Christmas Eve.  I know that most of you will have doubts wearing Christmas themed accessories but please give it a try... it is better than wearing knitted sweaters with Santa Claus and Rudolf as motif.  Anyway, here are some Christmas themed pins and brooches that you will never be ashamed of wearing.

Who wouldn't fall in love with the simplicity of this 'Love' brooch by Paloma Picasso?  The price, however, isn't that lovable--this is worth $40,000 at Tiffany & Co.  This brooch is made of brilliant cut 6.10ct diamonds set on 18k white gold.  Still in love?

Bottega Veneta gold scarabee oxidized silver bug brooch

Do you like bugs?  I don't if it is alive and crawls and will bite me.  If it is a brooch, though, I can consider.  This bug brooch from Bottega Veneta is $750 and is available at the label's official website for their Fall 2010 collection.  You can see lots and lots of bugs there.

Nicholas Varney scorpion brooch, conch brooch, cicada bracelet and crawfish bracelet

I was originally planning to post this scorpion brooch because it beats the most expensive item on this blog--Blue Nile radiant diamond ring.  This brooch costs $82,000.  It is made of 18k yellow gold that makes up the entire body, the abdomen is made of South sea baroque pearls, and the claws are made of clear cut 5.42 ct. diamonds.  But after a few seconds of browsing Marissa Collections' site, I saw this cicada bracelet from the same designer:

This bracelet costs $88,000.  Each overlapping cicadas are made of 18k yellow gold, the wings and thorax are lined with 4.15 ct. diamonds, and cabochon emeralds of 4.2 ct. are set to make it the eyes.  I thought, my entry would end on this bracelet but then I found this brooch from the same designer:

  

This brooch is made of 18k white gold that is shaped to resemble a Queen Conch, the South sea pearl is mounted on the middle and is surrounded by clear-cut diamonds and moonstone cabochons.  This brooch costs $97,210.  I thought I could finally click 'Publish Post' but then I saw this crawfish bracelet, you bet, from the same designer:

Before I proceeded with writing about this bracelet, I browsed again the website to see if there is any more that could beat the price of this.  I found none.  So, this confirms that this crawfish bracelet by Nicholas Varney is the most expensive jewelry in this blog.  Let me proceed with the specs.

This bracelet is made of 18k yellow gold with orange-red spinels and circular cut diamonds that you can only see if you will stretch the bracelet.  Brilliant design, isn't it?  I am not surprised that this thing costs $166,000 because of the workmanship and the number of sparklers added to it.

Flutter 'Cordoba' necklace/brooch in Ox brass

It is a brooch.  It is a necklace.  Well, it is actually both.  For a price of $375 for this Flutter brooch/necklace piece at Revolve Clothing, you get two accessories that you can wear to give oomph to your wardrobe, like on photos above.  The description did not say if the chain can be removed but I think it can be so that means giving you two brooch looks.

Cross Brooches and Pins

The Catholic Church is into a lot of criticisms lately particularly about priests molesting children.  The Holy See promised to never stop protecting children and look into these cases.  These issues only shows that priests are humans too who make mistakes but that is not an excuse.  I studied in Catholic schools but that doesn't mean I am a devout Catholic... I believe in the doctrine and dogmas and live a life the way true Christians do.  I am sad that these issues are being brought up again so as my support for the Pope's means to save and protect both children and the Catholic church, here are some pins and brooches that are inspired by the religion.
